Just a couple reminders for the new year as you use your technology.
Beware and always on guard.
• Don’t respond to phone calls or text messages that say your computer has a virus we need to clean it.
• When browsing the internet don’t respond to Captive popup messages that make Loud alert sounds and say your computer is infected call this number immediately. Your Mac or PC isn’t at risk. Take this action -
On Apple select Apple Menu, Select Force Quit, Choose the browser app in the list and click Force Quit.
On a PC press control+Alt+Delete to open Task Manager and select browser in the list.
Click End Task. Then RESTART
• IMPORTANT do not search Google for the Phone number to HP or Apple or Microsoft go to the company's website and look for the contact us or support page.
• Finally always create and document your own passwords. Then update your password keepers.
Apple - go to System Settings/Password or open the Password App.
On PCs sign into your browser and use browser specific password keepers or your iCloud Password Account.
Google Chrome browser - sign in using your google account then when you sign into a website these
password tools will ask to save your password. Allow it to do so.
Microsoft Edge does the same with your Microsoft ID. Sign in on your Edge browser.
Always Write down your password separate from these keepers.
• Don't allow your browser or password keeper to generate a password for you. Always make your own password.
• The critical passwords to know are your Primary email address password. Your AppleID password and your MicrosoftID password. The latest push is to setup a passkey if you have touch ID or Face ID active on your computer allow it to do this.Remember to call or text us if in doubt.
